Meg Garrison, MA, LCPC, MT-BC
Professional Counselor and Music Therapist, Meg brings a unique blend of training and experiences to Changes Counseling. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy from the University of Wisconsin in 1982 and her Master's degree in Counselor Education from the University of Central Florida in 1998. She has extensive experience in grief counseling, individual, youth and family counseling. She is a Board Certified Music Therapist and integrates her music therapy and counseling skills to help everyone from children and teens to those with brain injury and autism. She is a trained and experienced EMDR therapist, an empirically supported method for treating trauma victims. Meg has recently attended trainings in the Gottman method for helping couples improve their marriage. She has become involved in the community through CPASA, Community Partners Against Substance Abuse in Bureau county. She is also an active member of the Mendota Business Professional Women. Meg joined Changes Counseling in 2010 and currently works in both our Rochelle and Medota offices.
Lisa Jensen, MS.ED, LCPC
Lisa has a wealth of experience working with children, teens and adults. Lisa has a relaxed, down to earth personality that helps her connect easily to clients. Lisa graduated from Northern Illinois University in 2005 with an MS. ED. in Counseilng. She has extensive training and experience in helping those who have experienced sexual and physical trauma and domestic violence. She also has worked with youth and adults with special needs. She is interested in working with those in the LGBT community. Lisa joined Changes Counseling in 2015 and currently works in our Rochelle office.
Kathleen McGuire, MS.ED., LCPC
Kathy has over thirty years' experience as a licensed counselor, school counselor, and professional educator. She has a heart for helping others and a positive attitude that shows with people of all ages. Kathy has not only been effective as an individual, youth and family counselor, she has also applied her counseling and communication skills to helping organizations and businesses become more positive and healthy places to work. She is an excellent speaker and uses humor to connect well with others. Kathy is looking forward to building a professional network and seeing clients in our Oregon office.
Cora Mills, MSW, LCSW
Cora MIlls joined Changes Counseling in 2013 and is a warm, positive, creative therapist. She is a 2010 graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago where she received her Master's in Social Work. Cora has experience working with people with depression, anxiety, bi-polar and a variety of mental health issues. She uses cognitive-behavioral strategies to help her clients overcome challenges. She has additional experience in working with children and families with adoption. Cora was recently trained in prenatal and postnatal mental health issues for new moms, and has an interest in women's issues. Cora has a passion for working with the LGBTQ population and survivors of sexual, physical and emotional violence. Christine Novak, MA, LCPC
Christine has worked with youth and families since the start of her career in 2000. She has additional training in working with those who have experienced anxiety, depression, trauma, autism spectrum disorders, and domestic violence. As a graduate of Loyola University's Pastoral Counseling Program, Christine learned to support people in their faith as part of the counseling process. As a mother of three, she brings personal as well as professional experience to counseling individuals, couples, families and children. She has lead the Rochelle Parent Group for parents of Special Needs Children since 2011. Christine practices in our Rochelle office.
Krystal Stewart, MS.ED., LCPC
A 2014 graduate of the counseling program at Northern Illinois University, Krystal is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor as well as a Certified School Counselor. She has more than three years of experience working with children, adolescents, and families as a counselor and more than 10 years of working with children and families overall. She is very passionate about working with individuals, families, and children. Krystal joined Changes Counseling, LLC in the summer of 2017 and will be working in our Mendota and Oregon offices.
